Weekly Round-up! |
||||
Good morning Resident,
First off i would like to apologise for the weekly round-up being late, due to a large disorder on Broad street i wasn't able to write this up until now. Its been a bit of a rough one this week with lower than usual staffing levels stretching your city centre teams thin on the ground.
Lets get to it!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – A total of ten arrests were made last week for the following: A male was arrested for being found on an enclosed premises after members of the public spotted him climbing up the crane in the middle of the city centre, response officers arrived and swiftly arrested the male before he could cause any damage to property or harm to himself. After reports of a theft from a motor vehicle the suspect was identified by officers in our Offender Management department and an arrest attempt was carried out to bring them into custody. As always we had our usual arrests for failing to appear at court and recalls to prison for bad behaviour, a total of three arrests were made for these reasons this week. Another three arrests were made for shoplifting from various stores across the city centre, with one being a female arrested for a total of 7 shop thefts totalling hundreds of pounds, needless to say both Matalan and Next were thankful for her arrest. Finally two arrests were made for assault.
Community Engagement – Team 2 carried out an ASB walk around the city centre with partners from Wolverhampton Council to proactively advise people regarding the new PSPO that has been put in place. (Keep an eye out for that message coming soon) Friday night saw Team 2 once again out on an ASB walk, this time with schools. They saw first hand the issues we have with school children on Broad street at the opening of the new takeaway. A 50% of promotion and the opportunity to be entered into a competition to win an iPhone 17 saw upwards of 400 children swarm the location and cause disruption to traffic, buses and general members of the public. This week City Centre PCSO's Holmes and Spittle have visited the Memory Café at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, attendings this weeks South Asian session. They learnt bhangra dancing moves and had an amazing time with performer Sohan Kailey leading the session. Sohan had everyone up and dancing, having a fantastic time!
Guardian Patrols – Business as usual with guardian patrols this week, with one session from our trained Servator officers.
Night-Time Economy – Nothing spectacular happened on our Friday Night NTE shift with just two of our officers heading to New Cross to cover a hospital watch of a male in custody.
Other News - PCSOs were preoccupied last week with a suspected rape in the city centre. Officers were tasks with keeping a scene on lockdown for the majority of the day. Banking protocols are one of our ways of dealing with fraud and exploitation, if a bank thinks something is a bit fishy they will call us out to carry out enquiries. One banking protocol this week led to the discovery of bogus traders at an elderly males property. Unfortunately upon arrival the males had left the location, further enquiries are ongoing. Finally, to finish off with some good news. Two missing persons were located within the bus station and swiftly returned home by PC Mason and PC Tatchell
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you look forward to the next one!
